Sailing to Barcelona for marine and coastal conservation
Sailing brings you back to the fundamentals, just like the sea. For the first time in history the world of sailing will become a platform for advancing the conservation of our seas, coasts and oceans by empowering local, national and global actors. IUCN’s Sailing to Barcelona initiative will be an international high-profile sailing event featuring a diverse array of boats that will each deliver precise commitments towards marine and coastal conservation. Never has the need to protect our oceans in a holistic and coordinated manner been so urgent. Sailing to Barcelona will set the stage for what we hope will be a powerful, concerted and long-lasting initiative to protect the extraordinary “’blue world” that covers more than two thirds of our planet.
